Sean Derry Art Exhibit

  • Bunnell Street Arts Center 106 West Bunnell Avenue Homer, AK, 99603 United States (map)

Bunnell Street Arts Center presents From Always Until Now, an evocative exhibition by artist Sean Derry, running from March 7 – April 2, 2025. This exhibit features freestanding assemblages created from the careful deconstruction of a homesteading cabin on the southside of Kachemak Bay. Through this project, Derry transforms the artifacts and materials of the cabin into a compelling exploration of place, memory, and migration.

The exhibition opens with a reception on Friday, March 7, from 5–7 PM, with an artist talk at 6 PM. Over the past two summers, Derry meticulously reversed the cabin’s construction process, dismantling it piece by piece rather than resorting to traditional methods of removal, such as burning. His approach reflects a thoughtful meditation on the impact of human presence on landscapes, serving as both an artistic investigation and a symbolic act of reconciliation.

Visitors are invited to experience From Always Until Now and engage with Derry’s unique approach to honoring the past while examining the transformation of place. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM, and admission is free.
